RuneScape has celebrated the 20th anniversary of its game all throughout however, the Return for Party Hat Party Hat was a standout for many.

RuneScape introduced its Party Hat 20 years ago as part of a holiday celebration - it was a hat you'd find from crackers, a tiny thin, yet vibrant thing you'd wear around your head, maybe tear it off, and then throw away. You were supposed to throw it away it in OSRS Gold as well, but it wasn't everyone's choice. Some people kept it. Since then the price has risen to the point of 2.1 billion gold in the market. This is why RuneScape made a decision to honor people that "missed the boat" by introducing a brand New Party Hat, the Golden Party Hat.

"2021 marked the 20th anniversary of RuneScape and we've been celebrating this historic event all through the year," product director Matt Casey said to TheGamer. "We started the celebrations by launching the Grand Party event which reunited players with the most famous characters from the game and also gave them some special cosmetics. The theme was continued by launching the multi-part quest, which takes players deeper into RuneScape's history as well as the present and the future. Additionally, we announced the much-anticipated Elder Gods story arc, which tells the story of beings that first created Gielinor's world. Gielinor.

"While we was preparing for this event and preparing for the event, we decided to create something unique at the final day of the year to be an incentive for all our participants from the past, present and returning. We thought of a fresh Party Hat as the perfect opportunity to mark the occasion and also allow those who may have been unable to attend the first time around to be involved in the fun!"

One of the biggest issues in the return of this Party Hat was devaluing the original. This is why we decided to avoid this by turning this Golden Party Hat into a alternative - a separate item. We stuck to the iconic design, which is why it's recognized, but now with more glam.

"It led to some interesting discussions," Casey added. "Should it be similar or different? Conical or pointed? Plain or reflective? What is the most difficult thing to get? I'd like to say that many of us were concerned about how the event was received, but the players we have had are extremely positive and have been enjoying the whole experience.
