Reckoning rule changes in RuneScape War's Reckoning
In February, three brand new Slayer creatures will be added to RuneScape. These are an expansion of the abyssal creatures, bringing more advanced alternatives to the current monsters. To be able to play the creatures you'll need levels 95 or 108, or 115 Slayer. The requirements are huge which is why game developer Jagex has created an event called War's Reckoning event to help RuneScape players achieve their goals on time.
War's Reckoning offers a wide range of enhancements that can be used to Slayer and combat generally. The most notable of these buffs is the increase of 50% to the amount of experience gained through the Slayer skill up to February 28. This buff, however, is not applicable to hardcore ironmen, or ironmen with iron.
Ironmen, however, are able to benefit from this triple Slayer as well as Reaper points. Each of the Slayer and Reaper tasks completed in the course of three weeks will earn double points. This applies to both points you earn for completing an assignment and points when you earn streak bonuses. For instance, finishing your 10th mission in an order set by the master at the top of the line Slayer master of RuneScape was previously worth 110 points. In the course of War's Reckoning it will be the OSRS Accounts player with 220 points instead.
Additionally, all death cost mechanics are turned off during the time the event is running. This means you are able to die repeatedly as often as you'd like with no cost. In addition, you won't need to shell out money to get equipment back, but Ring of Death charges won't be used up.
Death cost controversy
Diet costing mechanic has become an issue in RuneScape. It is an option to prevent gold-sink players from becoming reckless and dying in battle However, its implementation is faulty. With the most advanced equipment the death cost can be as high as 10 million dollars, which makes any failure extremely punishing.
Jagex Team members have stated that they are looking for an alternative, however it's unlikely that it will be announced any time in the near future. However, in the meantime, events such as War's Reckoning work as a feasible alternative to ease one of the biggest issues that RuneScape's endgame players have to face.
